Lavina Wines - McLaren Vale, South Australia
2010 Meritus Charonnay
Meritus wines display uplifting regional flavours, layered complexity and a soft approachable finish.
The Meritus vineyards are situated in the stunning coastal wine region of McLaren Vale on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.
Vineyard
Located on the elevated subregion of Seaview, within McLaren Vale, stands a small 47-year old Chardonnay vineyard planted on gravel and Biscay soil over a subsoil of limestone and shale. The high elevation, ancient soils and close proximity to the ocean are all instrumental factors in growing this premium Chardonnay.
Vintage
2010 was an excellent vintage that provided even diurnal temperatures which allowed the vines a long and even ripening period conducive to producing complex esters and flavour compounds in the berries.
Colour - Pale straw
Bouquet - Delicate citrus blossom and fresh pears.
Palate
A refined soft textured palate with generous fruit complexity of white stone fruit, peaches and honeydew melon are balanced beautifully with crisp natural acidity.
Serving and Cellaring
This wine is enjoyable to drink now, by itself or to compliment any style of cuisine. Serve slightly chilled.
